Lloyd Clarance and Kate Hollingsworth are my Great Grandparents on my paternal side of the family tree. My grandfather Bertie son of Lloyd and Kate.
It has been a long journey for me to get this far with my research and grateful thanks goes to some family members, cousins and the world wide web for the information that is found within this website. I have been studying our name 'Clarance' for approximately 12 years now and it still amazes me that little snippets of information crop up from time to time. Sometimes sending me into a spin or extreme excitement to get it logged and saved. It all began on a winters evening in 2002 that I just typed in the name Lloyd Clarance into GOOGLE search, and there it was a playbill poster with his name on it!
Family stories that I had heard over the years growing up was that my great grandfather was on the stage, I didn't really know much but knew for some reason my father was proud of his roots, proud of his grandfather. Oddly I didn't even realise Lloyd's real name was John William Hunt, since my surname, my father and his father were called Clarance. I remember us all when ever having to spell our name we said its 'with and A not an E', meaning we are Clarance not Clarence. My brother however had his mispelt on his birth certificate with an E, which is a shame. Now since being married and my surname is Lock, I find my self still having to clarify that I am Lock without an E. Just like my middle name Ann is without an 'e'. My life is destined to be without an 'e'
So here I am Stephanie Ann Lock (nee Clarance) various photo's of my growing up. Click on each pic to enlarge.

My Grandparents, Bertie Reginald Henry Clarance Hunt and Elsie (nee Jacques)
Behind my grandfather is my father John Angus Hunt Clarance. Next to him is Cissy Johnson, we always knew her as Aunt Cissy but she was not an Aunt, she was Granny Elsie's cousin. Next to Cissy is my Aunt Lucy she was married to Reginald who is standing next to her. Reginald is my fathers brother, son of Bert. Next to Reginald is my Aunt Stephanie, she is married to Brian standing behind Elsie, he is also brother to my father and Reginald.
Everyone except my Uncle Brian and Aunt Stephanie have now died. This photograph was in the local paper in Oxborough as my Grandparents had both just celebrated their 60th year of marriage in 1973.
